In the spring of 1999, Chuck was diagnosed with prostate cancer and made the decision to have surgery. There were 8 or 9 weeks required for healing before he could return to work.
Chuck returned to work for two weeks only to learn that a co-worker had a procedure done, returned to work himself and two weeks later, he passed away. That's not how Chuck wanted to go out, working in the belly of G.M.
Chuck worked for General Motors for 38 years and retired in September of 1999 at the age of 58.
